7,8-Dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF) is a natural flavonoid acting as a potent, brain-penetrating, small-molecule agonist of the TrkB receptor, effectively mimicking brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). It shows promise in preclinical studies for neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's), cognitive impairment, depression, and metabolic syndromes by reducing neuronal apoptosis.
